Christian served as an in-house lawyer for more than 25 years with large brands such as BP, Amoco, and Schlumberger.

While at BP, he had been the Programme Director, Global Information and Records, and the Information Policy Director.
There, he led a global program to redevelop the corporation's approach to information governance for paper and electronic information, both unstructured and structured.  He now works on compliance and information governance issues with the Chicago law firm Scharf Banks Marmor LLC.
